How Much Protein Should I Intake a Day?

Based on current research (see our Science page for more details):

  • 40-49 years: 0.36 to 0.45 grams per pound of body weight
  • 50-59 years: 0.45 to 0.54 grams per pound
  • 60-69 years: 0.54 to 0.68 grams per pound
  • 70-79 years: 0.54 to 0.68 grams per pound
  • 80+ years: 0.54 to 0.73 grams per pound

Example:

If you are 65 years old and weigh 160 pounds, your recommended daily protein intake would be between 86.4 grams (160 lbs x 0.54) and 108.8 grams (160 lbs x 0.68).
